Additional Comments:   No tiene una distincion biologica pero sin embargo es la rana completamente acuatica mas grande del mundo y habita lugares muy altos en los Andes,fisiologicamente es una de las pocas especies adaptadas a la altura. Es importante culturalmente ya que en las comunidades locales los consideran como seres espirituales tambien de importancia economica ya que es comercializada en restaurantes aunque ultimamente este factor en disminucion pero una reciente y muy creciente es el uso de la especie para los jugos de ranas en especial en el lado peruano que comienza a ingresar en el territorio boliviano, ultimamente se registro como especie usada para mascota. Si hubo trabajos pero aun falta revisar la taxonomia de esta especie.
