Yes This species has a quite large range occurring in the rainforest belt of southeastern Madagascar, from Ranomafana south to Andohahela, within (at least) these two protected areas. It is thought to have some tolerance to a degree of habitat modification.
5 Habitat for reintroduction Does enough suitable habitat exist, either within or outside of currently protected areas that is suitable for reintroduction or translocation? Yes The species presents a relatively wide range, being found in both in pristine and degraded rainforest. However, its forest habitat is receding due to subsistence agriculture, timber extraction, charcoal manufacture, and invasive spread of eucalyptus, livestock grazing and expanding human settlements.

Threats unknown Although the species seem to be relatively resilient to habitat modification, no populations are being monitored to understand the natural fluctuations and eventual impacts of habitat alteration and forest degradation actually happening at a fast rate.
