Yes / probably This species is restricted to the low and medium elevations of the western slopes of Anaimalai massif in the Western Ghats states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu in India (Vijayakumar et al. 2014). It is present in the protected areas Parambikulam Tiger Reserve (Vijayakumar et al. 2014), and in Topslip in Anamalai Tiger Reserve and Periyar Tiger Reserve (S.R. Ganesh pers. comm. October 2020). It may occur more widely, specifically to the west of its known range (S.R. Ganesh, pers. comm. October 2020). It occurs between 45 and 806 m asl (Vijayakumar et al. 2014).

Threats unlikely to be reversed in time to prevent further decline / extinction Inhabits the understory of low to mid-elevation wet evergreen forests (Vijayakumar et al. 2014). It is unknown whether this species will tolerate habitat disturbance, but it requires understorey vegetation to be intact (India RL/CNA workshop 2020). Large scale agriculture and conversion of habitat to rubber and arecanut plantations is a major threat to this species (there is not understory vegetation in these areas that's why arecanut and rubber plantations are major threats). In the lower elevations (below 200 m asl), development of human settlements could be a threat to this species (S.R. Ganesh and S.R. Chandramouli, pers. comm. October 2020). Due to its presence in lower elevations, climate change is not considered to be as much of a potential threat to this species compared to others in the genus (India RLA/CNA workshop, October 2020). Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd) has been confirmed in the genus, with morbidity observed but no mortalities to date (India RLA/CNA workshop, October 2020).
11 Over-collection from the wild Is the taxon suffering from collection within its natural range, either for food, for the pet trade or for any other reason, which threatens the species’ continued persistence in the wild? No / unlikely
